Got started on the field with Johnson Grass higher than my head. Tough going. Then I discovered a tiny fawn caught in the fence. Her hind leg was dislocated at the hip and the wire had cut her leg to the bone all the way around near the hoof. I cut her out of the fence and my cousin called the Game Warden. He came and we evaluated the damage. He decided the damage was irreversible and euthanasia was the most humane thing to do. He took the fawn. Then I discovered I'd lost my glasses (Rx safety glasses). I checked where the fawn was, where my tractor was and finally found them in my cousin's truck. Soooo then, back to mowing. All was well until the bolt holding the PTO shaft to the gearbox shaft broke. Fortunately I found one in their shop. Got'er dun though. I feel bad about the fawn. There was another one and I watched to make sure it got to safety.
