Alright. Dad and I bought a 2017 T4 110. Had a DEF issue because of the cold. Tractor derated. Had to have dealer come wipe it for $400. Absolute BS...considering they never told us about not using it in the cold. Anyways...I now know to avoid using it when it is below zero which again is BS. I know about running it hard to get engine temp up if it is used. It happened to my dad when he used it, so what code pops up where I need to stop what I'm doing and raise the RPM's to avoid a derate. Other than the two things i listed, what tips can anyone give me to avoid derating the tractor because of DEF and cold temp related issues.
I could rant about the dealer and the tractor all day about the DEF probs...i just want to be able to use the damn tractor when i need to. Some of you probably know more than the dealer does anyway....
Thanks

If you rebuild the motor, you could use hardened seats and valves, and unleaded fuel. But if your old tractor runs good, a simple lead substitute added to the gas is a perfectly reasonable solution. And, if you are like me, your tractor is under cover, but it sits outside. So with every temperature change, the humidity in the air collects in the fuel tank, in the form of water.
