We have a fair population of bobcats in Georgia. I had the unfortunate experience of having a rabid one come into my aunt's yard. Bad situation. It had to be shot and two dogs and their puppies along with it because the adults got into a fight with it.
The bobcat went under my aunt's house to get out of the light and I will never forget the sound of the growl it let out. It made the hair on the back on my neck stand up. To kill a rapid animal is to end prolonged severe pain and suffering.
The current bait vaccine is recombinant, but only available to government entities. I need to check to see if our area is in an area that rates the use of this.
