I just happened to see three Bobcats crossing a gravel road in front of me about one hundred yards away.ill never see that again as long as I live.they crossed about fifteen seconds apart I didn't have time to get a picture of them it happened all to fast definitely something I'll never forget.

We have been seeing a lot of them around here East of Lancaster Ohio, the Game warden said they are considering a season for them soon.

I have a Bobcat that lives in my shed! It's a 753.

Sorry couldn't resist. They are quite a sight to see. I have a trail cam set on a den down in my woods... So I know there is still at least one pair around.

Don't say never we started seeing them about 5 yrs. ago and have seen a dozen or so since.

We have a bobcat season in SC if i remember correctly.
Walked down to my sawmill one night after dark to get something I had forgot. One screamed at me from the sawdust pile about 10 feet away.
Every hair on this furry body of mine stood up.

Years ago while hunting I came upon a fresh bobcat kill. The telltale fang marks at the base of the deer's skull identified it as a bobcat kill. I had chased him off before he had completely opened the belly yet. There was a 6 foot high rock that the cat had used to pounce on the deer as it wandered by. Never saw the cat itself, though.

I saw the only two live ones I have ever seen one behind the other like that, in broad midday light. Apparently there are lots of them, we just don't get to see them.

Hunting season in the lower 3 tiers of counties in Iowa. Used to be a 250 limit of Bobcats harvested. I think that has been upped to 300 now.

On our way home from Durango, CO. Wife and I saw 2 mountain lions cross Hwy. 160 near Mesa Verde. Assumed they might be a mates pair. They are beautiful when in full stride, just glad they didn?t get hit while crossing.

As a kid, probably about 11 years old, one of my jobs was to go to the "other" farm and 'tend the livestock. That place had no pole light. When I got there, pitch black dark, I got out of the vehicle, and was walking toward the barn for the light switch, and a bobcat let out a cry somewhere nearby. What a scare! I got my chores done in a hurry that evening.

So what's the difference between a Bobcat and a Lynx?

Read a book about a Lynx that pounced on a Collie and blinded it but didn't kill it. For a young boy the story was a real tear jerker. Was in the school library and we were required to do outside reading as part of English classes.

Wait till ya see a bear or a BIG kitty cat. I have seen two bears here in N/E Ohio and i have seen the tracks of a BIG KITTY about two hundred feet from my house here in town . Several years back many people around here saw a Cougar in broad dayllight , my one friend and customer had one come close to him one evening after Milking while he was back at the burn pile burning trash . He was telling me that it just came out of nowhere from the woods and sat down about fifty feet from him at the edge of the fire light and just sat there for fifteen to twenty min. watching . My friend told me he wqas sure he needed a change of shorts when it did get up and just walk off to the N/E . He took me back and showed me the paw prints in the mud and yep it was a BIG kitty. Bears i have seen were down south while i have been on service calls out in the fields . Closest was 150-175 yards away just before dark , that will give ya and uneasy feeling when the sun is going down and you still have about and hour to finish up and you are over a mile from another person.

The most obvious difference is that the lynx has black tufts on its ears, some information says bobcats can be bigger, and this one is a big one. We got numerous pictures of bobcats on our game cameras in N Minnesota. Recently there was this article about a lynx sighting N of Duluth.

The past sheriff stopped by and showed one he had picked up as road kill 10 years ago. That was two miles from town,I had no idea they were around till then. Now we have a season.

I got up to use the bathroom in the middle of the night last summer and as I got to the door the automatic light went on outside. I went to the window expecting to see a deer but instead there was mama bobcat and two bob kittens walking across my lawn about 15 feet from the window.

Also last summer I was out in the woods spraying Canada thistles, watching for the thistles and where I put my feet so I didn't trip, looked up to see how far from the field I was when I saw a black bear about 30 yards ahead. It hadn't noticed me so I spoke to it. It looked at me, surprised to see a person, then turned and ran as fast as it could.

I go out and check tracks especially after a light snow a lot more Bobcats are around than one might think as they are human shy, much like River Otters most people rarely see one.

Wish I had never seen the otters that took up residence in my pond, almost cleaned out my catfish. So far I have shot 6 of them but still see one once in a while.
h
Have seen several bobcats on my trail cams. Several get shot around here every deer season.

Bob Cats are fairly common here in Tennessee. Kind of like mice if you are seeing them out in the daytime , you definitely have some, most time they are around late of evening and night. Years ago I was siting down cross legged under a small grain bin fixing the gate. About that time a rabbit came by flying , I am thing what the heck. All of a sudden I look around and a full grown bobcat bounces to stop about 12 to 15 feet from me. He was so close I could see his breath. I had nothing but a claw hammer , thankfully he ran the other way but it was a long 10 seconds for sure . Had one raise 3 little ones here in a dozer pile last year. Rather have them than the dang coyotes.

LOL ! I really thought you were talking about some skid steer loaders, maybe going to move this snow we got.

you're just south of me, they're getting thick around here lots being seen and hit on the roads.

For every 2 or 3 sighted in rural areas around here,1 is seen inside city limits of DFW cities. Free roaming dogs cripple and destroy more livestock than Bobcats and coyotes combined. As for blood curdling screams in the night,we have a little owl no bigger than a Meadowlark that people swear are mountain lions or as old timers call them "painters".

We have a fair population of bobcats in Georgia. I had the unfortunate experience of having a rabid one come into my aunt's yard. Bad situation. It had to be shot and two dogs and their puppies along with it because the adults got into a fight with it.

The bobcat went under my aunt's house to get out of the light and I will never forget the sound of the growl it let out. It made the hair on the back on my neck stand up. To kill a rapid animal is to end prolonged severe pain and suffering.

The current bait nnalert is recombinant, but only available to government entities. I need to check to see if our area is in an area that rates the use of this.
