Not a whole lot different here. First was a zoning variance because the garage is supposed to be behind - not along side the house. $400 and two city council meetings. A site plan which I drew up myself. Then a building permit for $1400. Again, I drew up the blueprint. Lots of code requirements here. I had to install those steel sway braces to keep the garage door end from moving in a cat 3 tornado. Had to buy a 30' microlam beam to go the full width = $340 I had the slab and 2 aprons done for me. Cost was $11,300 Other than the slab I'm building this by my self. Got the roof finished on Saturday. Whew. Made me feel old. 30'X33'. Max allowed is 1K square feet. Oh, and the county assessor left me a note on Friday that he'd been here to measure it.
