I retired at 63 and wish I could have done it sooner. The last 20 years of my career were physically easy (certified Oracle database master and programmer) and paid a huge amount of money, but my time is precious to me. I fill my day with a variety of hobbies and just last year turned down $100 an hour for 20 hour weeks for about one year to optimize a system. Now at age 67 my time is worth more than that to me.
