It has been the year of the alternator for some reason. I’m to the point of having some rebuilt just because they are getting old and all of the others are quitting on me this year anyway. Then today my chore truck pooped out. I use it everyday to run to pastures and go between farms - she left me walking home for the first time ever. Unfortunately, I think the Bakelite cam gear broke on me. I have no cam rotation (valves, distributor, or fuel pump) and the crank is intact all the way through. I guess after 83 years it just gave up. Things just don’t last like they used to.
One company had a stash of the NOS gears. Tomorrow I need to call them and see if they still do. I’ll probably just go ahead and order one and the cover seals before I tear into it. Even if I don’t need everything I order I’ll be glad I have them at some point. That’s kind of the pitfall of using something from 1935 everyday, I guess. No point in letting it sit and rot, though.

Some of them only bring their noses down out of the air long enough to look down them anyway. If you are like me you are only doing this old tractor stuff because you enjoy it. You
