I tend to agree, if you keep doing things the same way as everyone else, you will probably get the same results as everyone else. And if they are going broke , you will too. Farmers , for the most part , produce raw products, and not finished ready to consume goods. Maybe small scale vertical integration could be the answer. Biggest obstacle to this kind of idea is marketing at the retail level. Very difficult if not impossible for a small company to get their products carried by a big chain store. So that leaves only direct marketing. All this takes time and capital to develop. And regardless how good the products might be, if a big box store can find a similar product, and sell it for below cost, they can and will crush the smaller business.
