around here the odds of getting ripped of (and i mean RIPPED off) by the Amish (auctioneer or not) is very high.
Yes, You COULD get a bad deal or ripped off by anyone. but my experience is with the amish you WILL get ripped off. I Try very hard to avoid doing any business with them. Especially the amish auctioneers but they are getting prolific buying up non-amish auction companies.
latest scam is "silent bid" real estate auctions. you have NO idea who is bidding, what the bid is, they will call you if you are "outbid" to encourage you to bid higher. you could also be the high bidder and may not get it if one of their amish buddies is interested at a lower price. I imagine if you dug into it and watched long enough you could find enough to turn them into the auction commission or the real estate agency.
