: I need advice on what to look for in buying a trailer to haul a small tractor (27 hp about 3500 lbs with front end loader). This is what I've learned so far: About 16ft. long, tandem axle with electric brakes, 7000 lb. GVWR, will need a heavy duty frame mounted hitch like used for travel trailers, price may go as high as $2300 but I'd like to get it for less. I've also been warned about damaging the trailer during loading by concentrating weight on the tail end. Any comments will be appreciated. This sounds like you have the right trailer. Make sure the trailer is wide enough for the tractor, give yourself some clearance on each side. You need to be able to center the weight of the tractor over the axles of the trailer. As far as the loading question, this trailer sounds as if it is heavy enough for this tractor. You may need some metal loading ramps. Small inclined banks usually make loading and unloading much easier!
