Thanks for adding me to the forum! I am working on a bit of an odd application. It's a Perkins 4cyl diesel engine in a 1972 Land Rover. I know absolutely nothing of the history of the vehicle, the engine, or the engine swap although I am quickly learning a bit about the Perkins diesels.
The oil pan on the engine has been hacked up...cut, welded, re-cut, and re-welded, until the mounting flange is warped beyond use. I can only assume it was cut up and pieced back together for clearance or sump location at some point to fit into something. I am trying to find a replacement oil pan.
I have been researching Perkins engines for a few hours now and I am getting a bit overwhelmed with just how many different engines and applications are out there. In starting my research I took numbers off of everything I could find from the cylinder head, valve cover, cover on the right side of the block, bottom of the oil pan, even off of the crankshaft webs and bearing caps. I got numbers off of everything except the ONE I needed....the serial number off of the block.
I do have a bunch of pictures and I was hoping one of you guys might point me in the right direction as to identifying which engine it is, possibly what it came out of, and where I might get an oil pan. The pan is not completely flat all the way around as most I have found pics of on line. It has a flat rail on either side and a "U" shaped cut out at the front and back to fit in the slots on the bearing caps/engine block.
