Rarely seen corn here dry enough to go straight into the bin. Most guys start combining at the 25 % or even a bit higher, just to get it off before the snow flies. Once it gets cold, the crop does not dry much anymore.There has been some years when we took corn off at 29 to 31 percent, even late in the season, due to a cool summer. Drying costs can run up to $100 per acre or more, but it's just one of those things where you pay it now,and get it done, or pay later with weather related yield loss. Always some fun! Ben
