What was ingenuity was how JD was able to keep the 2 cylinders competitive enough to maintain and even grow market share in the mid to late 50s. We have everything from the antique 50s combines and tractors up to current models. I marvel at the simplicity of the yesterday tractors/combines but these newer machines have been just as reliable for considering how much more is asked of them. Take my JD 55 combine for example. I'm pretty sure it will still be around 50 years from now when our current S670s are gut washed. But our two 670s processed more grain this year then that 55 has its entire life time. Some of the worst tractors we've had were built before the pre electronic pre emissions era.
