Just to add my 2 cents. In Iowa, a farm tractor is NOT legal on the road, UNLESS it is being used for purposes of agriculture. This means that traveling from the farm to a field is permissible, and hauling grain to town is legal, or even driving the tractor to the repair shop in town is okay, but driving the tractor to the local watering hole because your truck won't run is NOT legal. RTVs, quads, 4 wheelers, etc. ALL fit into the same description. If you're heading out to check on the cows in your Kubota RTV, you are legal to use any road necessary. However, joy-riding on a public road is NOT allowed.
