IN Quad Law

Not wanting to hijack Georges thread below, I'm buying my first ORV, a Kubota RTV-X100C. I will be using it only on my property but my property borders a state road and access to certain areas of my property is most convenient by driving on the state Hwy for between 75' and 250' depending upon the parcel. Never an issue with any of my tractors but I'm told that there are IN St laws specific to so called quads.

Yes, I'll ask my Kubota dealer about this, and investigate further if not satisfied with their answer, but anyone up on the IN ORV laws?

Dean,
My post is a copy from Indiana DNR law.
It only applies to kids under 18 even on private property.
I think it's straight forward. Can't find exceptions for farmers. Only exception are for golf carts.
You will still have to send your title into DMV.

Sorry, but didn't read entire thread for obvious reasons.

Once upon a time (still?) IN law required off road vehicle owners to "register" their vehicles if they drove them on public roads. This provision is largely unenforced (I've tried), but there are well connected folks in my area who do not like me and may well be able to have such selectively enforced provisions enforced against those who they do not like.

Was hoping someone could save me some time.

Will resort to statutes.

Have not read any laws, but my understanding, ORV,ATV,UTV,RTV's cannot driven on state roads or state highways at all but can be driven on county roads or city streets unless a city has an ordinance against them. See them all the time in our local town since there is no ordinance prohibiting them in town. Have seen them cross a state highway but not travel on them. If you can navigate an ATV in a state road ditch that is a gray area, do not know about that.(IN)

Just to add my 2 cents. In Iowa, a farm tractor is NOT legal on the road, UNLESS it is being used for purposes of agriculture. This means that traveling from the farm to a field is permissible, and hauling grain to town is legal, or even driving the tractor to the repair shop in town is okay, but driving the tractor to the local watering hole because your truck won't run is NOT legal. RTVs, quads, 4 wheelers, etc. ALL fit into the same description. If you're heading out to check on the cows in your Kubota RTV, you are legal to use any road necessary. However, joy-riding on a public road is NOT allowed.
