Are you asking about the threaded part? Cut the cap tube off and use a 6 point socket.
Are you asking about the bulb, as in stuck in the hole? Twist the end off, get beside it with a small punch and collapse it inward, peel it out with needle nose pliers.

I would take it off, get it out of the way. Be a good chance to dump it and rinse it out with clean fuel, and set the lifters.
What temp. should the motor work at driving around and pulling a plow?
It will run at least as hot as the thermostat. Depends on the ambient temperature and the load. You will learn what is normal after using it a while. As long as it's stable and in the middle of the gauge, not boiling over or loosing coolant, it will be fine.
