Some, if not all 2000R JD's are a through and through Yanmar. They seem like a pretty nice machine. Can't knock the quality of them at all. Maybe the Yanmar machines aren't as well built, but I can't see that being the case. It says John Deere on the serial tag, but at the bottom of the tag it says: OSAKA, JAPAN YANMAR CO. Don't think the tag even mentions Moline, Illinois on it. I would not be a Yanmar tractor meant for sale in North America. I would avoid grey market machines for parts availability reasons.
