Thanks for the responses. I will try the lock washer and have located a 5/8-18 flare male to a 1/2 inch female pipe thread adapter I may try first. New gauge came with an adapter to 1/2 inch pipe thread? I will keep you posted, my tractor is about 90 miles from home, so I can only get to it on weekends. I am bound and determined to get a temp gauge working without losing anti-freeze. Pat
