My 1086 lost all forward gears the other day, still have reverse and park. Removed seat and transmission cover. Snap ring of forward-reverse shifting rail gone and rail had moved. Trying to reinstall, but not sure how to keep pressure on spring loaded rollers. No longer a dealer in our area, but have talked to 2 shop managers and they say have to remove fuel tank. Neighbor thinks he can reinstall the cover, but can't figure out how to keep tension on the spring and rollers. Have heard of some kind of a tool that helps in this process.
