RiI drill a small hole in top cover in same location Ben says, but I drill it and tap it for an 1/8 pipe plug and use a bolt to hold lever back, cant remember if is was 5/16 or 3/8 bolt, whichever fits tightest in the hole. It is possible to get the shaft back into the fork if it slips out but takes alot of patience, light, mirrors and a couple strong magnets. I replaced the shaft on mine and didnt feel like pulling the dual on mine to remove the tank. I nicked the edge of the key way in the shaft with a punch to hold the key tight while working in back into the fork.
