Having driven between Worcester and Boston for most of my life - I can say without any hesitation that the reputation is well deserved.
People are just complete ... (insert word I can't use here).
It's extremely competitive driving. NOBODY wants to let anybody in front of them, or slow down for anybody.
Stop and let somebody else go??? It's just unheard of.
God forbid you ever make a mistake and get in the wrong lane somewhere - People will go out of their way to keep you from recovering from it.
Even in light traffic on the highway - put your directional on to change lanes and the person in that lane behind you, will instinctively speed up so you can't get in.
I could go on and on.
It always AMAZES me to drive in different states where people don't drive like this.
