Try hooking it to something and making it work hard for a few hours first. Many times after sitting for a while that is all that's needed. My friend Jeff bought a White 2-85 this spring and I didn't think it sounded to good at first and smoked some white too. I think all it had done for years was hay work. After spring work it runs and sounds great and don't smoke at all. Our old 730 case diesel that we had on the farm was the manure spreader tractor every winter and every spring it would take 1/2 a day of hard work to get it back up to full power again. Just had to blow out all the junk that accumulated over winter.
