So, since I quit farming I don't do near as much welding, however, I recently have been welding a lot since I built/modified another car tow dolly and fabricated and installed some things on a newer car and truck. BUT my welding, although it had good penetration and would hold in my opinion, just wasn't pretty looking lol AND IT WAS BECAUSE I COULDNT SEE VERY WELL. I wear reading glasses, but under the helmet that didn't work so good so I half blind stumbled through.
BUTTTTTTTT one day my buddy tells me (I hadn't bought welding stuff for years) they make a magnifying glass that fits in my welding helmet where the lens etc fits so I bought one AND WHAT A DIFFERECNE, I CAN SEE MY WORK AGAIN I CAN WELD SOOOOOOOOO MUCH BETTER AND EVEN RUN SMOOTHER MORE CONSISTENT PRETTIER BEADS LOL YAYYYYYYYYY
Goes to show ya what happens when you're away from things a long time and aren't up on whats available. Those magnifying lenses were likely around longgggggggg before, but years ago I didn't need or use them so how was I to know lol
Ran out of rod and iron, have to make a trip to town
