As I type this, 70 years ago today ships were loading to cross the English Channel to the beaches of Normandy, aircraft were being loaded for paratroop drops and southern England looked like a large military exercise.
70 years ago, my Uncle Frank had about two weeks to live- he died at St. Lo.
My Dad and Uncle Larry were waiting on orders to move up into the line for transport to an LSD- which, by the way got lost, so they didn't go in on D+2, but arrived on D+6 anyway.
Tomorrow is a special day. If you know a Vet who is still here, make a special effort to thank him. And, even if you don't, thank any Vet. And, make a special prayer for those who didn't come back. Because of their sacrifice, you can freely do it.....
