first off i would like to say i am a complete greenhorn to the cattle buisness, but i would like to raise a calf or two, i was looking at the cattle markets and for instance it will say feb. feeder cattle at 171 dollars, how do they determine the amount per 171 dollars, is it a set standard that anyone with a cow knows? its very confusing to me, all i want to do is figure out how much a calf costs and being new i figured they would just say calf x amount of dollars but no. could someone please tell me how to figure out how much a calf costs (to buy not hay and feed and other supplies) and an example of how much it would cost to buy one in your area? thanks
