I once got excited about the Olympics myself, then I began considering the fact that the Olympics are supposed to be for amateurs, instead of professionals, and one year several of the Russian athletes were members of the Russian army, I got to thinking, seems like that would constitute being professional. Either way, the Russians always won way more medals than the US, and after watching many of the performances, I became convinced that, and I hate to say this, but the US wussed out, just to satisfy the Russians. JMHO, I agree with your statements. I haven't watched in years.
