Have a friend in similar situation as yours, a big guy with a bad knee. He always prefers the minivans, first a VW, then Ford Winstar and now a Honda. He did have a 94 Camry which he says was fantastic, but found the newer ones weren't as good. The vans are roomy enough but not too high like large vans, pickups. I find my brother's Acadia is a bit high and really benefits from it's added side steps.
