Thankfully, I've never had my information stolen, but the protection thing can be a double edged sword. I was traveling back to KS from CA and stopped for gas in CO at 8:00 in the AM on a Sunday. The CC/Debit Card was declined. We were driving straight through, so we had gassed up in CA, UT, and then CO all within 12-18 hours of each other. I undertand the suspicion, but if we hadn't had cash, we would have been stuck. There wasn't anyone at the bank to call at 8:00 AM on a Sunday morning either. We had even told them about the trip in advance, and it still got shut down. I was just thankful we had enough cash to buy gas and food to make it home!
