I went with a 55amp Delco alternator with a built in regulator, the 3 wire, not single wire. It was $40 remanufactured, I was pretty happy with that. I'm going for function not originality so it suits me just perfectly. Not only that, if I need a replacement they are cheap and plentiful. The tach was the last thing on my mind when doing the conversion but something that will come in handy.
