Tiny Tach, is it waterproof?

I just ordered a Tiny Tach for my TO35 (Massey) because I converted to an alternator which doesn't have a tach drive. I see this "TINY-TACH™ unit is potted to prevent damage from moisture and vibration" on the website but does that mean I can bolt it directly to the dash where it will get wet?
 
I may do that but I would still like to hear from people who have them and what sort of real world applications they use them in.
 
I have used a few. They are water resistant but not waterproof. Meaning, rain every now and then will not hurt them. Put your tractor in a pond or lake........well then the tach is the least of your worries.
 
I use them on my garden tractors that I use for plowing events. They are mounted on the dash and not protected from washing or rain fall. So far I have had no problems.
 
I use them on my old pre-tach. tractors, but my tractors set under cover.
Did you know that AC for years used the early DR alternator which used basically the same tach. drive as the DR generator? So if you had one of them, with the correct pulley, you could still use the OEM tach.
 
YES! I converted my MF85 from gen to alt by using an alt for a MF175. I just took all the tach drive stuff off the gen and put it on the alt. It was a direct bolt up. Also added the regulator for the 175. Since then I updated to an electronic regulator that plugs directly into the back of the alt.
 
I went with a 55amp Delco alternator with a built in regulator, the 3 wire, not single wire. It was $40 remanufactured, I was pretty happy with that. I'm going for function not originality so it suits me just perfectly. Not only that, if I need a replacement they are cheap and plentiful. The tach was the last thing on my mind when doing the conversion but something that will come in handy.
