Upon further inspection the new starter motor is just spinning backwards. The gear will not spin out because the motor is spinning in reverse. I pulled the old one apart but the parts differ from the new one. I've never taken a starter apart and don't want to ruin the new one. Does anybody have any advice on how to get the other one spinning correctly. As I said yesterday the new one has been sitting here so long I can't remember where it came from so sending it back isn't an option.
