Heavy industry could thrive in the US again due to cheap energy, or at least comparitively cheap to most of the rest of the world, the US has the opportunity in natural gas, shale oil and coal, no telling if we will ever fully take advantage of it. The standard of living is and has been going up in China, India and Central Asia for a couple of decades, they want stuff just like we do but they do not yet have the luxury of cheap and abundant food produced by the most advanced agricultural inputs and practices in the history of mankind as we do in the USA. If and when Asia gets their population growth under control and adopt and implement better farming practices that produce better and cheaper food then you will see them become consuming nations and they will have more markets for their own goods at home.

As I grew older (7), it was the thrill of my day to ride or drive on the tractor. My Papaw had a 1954 IH Super A that he bought to replace a Cub.
