I'd say 4wd would be lucky to be asking 8k if it's really nice in my opinion, 2wd considerably less.
The engine has LOTS of life left if it was looked after. Keep in mind 7.3 trucks are VERY desirable to a lot of Ford fans. The later diesels are not as appreciated.
You will love the 7.3 6-speed combo, I have 2000 F250 4wd crew with that combo. Geared nice and low for pulling heavy trailer and will cruise all day in 6th on the highway with power to spare.
