That engine was "B" tested under heavy duty truck use. that means being worked hard all the time. The HD "B" test shows how many made it to X amount of miles with NO major repairs.
The 7.3 PowerStroke has:
B10 of 200,000 miles (10% failed, 90% did fine)
B50 of 350,000 miles (50% failed, 50% did fine)
I have a 1994 7.3 IDI. It's the last 7.3 built before the PowerStroke DI engine came out in mid-94. My engine is lighter-built. It just turned 300K miles and runs like new. It pulled a fifth-wheel livestock trailer for many years.
