You may remember that I posted a while back about my fear of snakes and wanting to get over it. Well, i kept telling myself that the fear is unreasonable since we have no poisonous ones in our area. The other day I was walking in a nearby state park as usually when a lady asked me what to do about a snake that was bothering her as she fished along the river bank. It seems she had moved further down the bank twice to get away from it but it follwed her both times. I walked up to within a couple feet of what was more than a 3 footer. After the snake and I looked each other over a bit, I asked the lady to move back from the bank a bit, then I stomped and moved closer to the snake. It took off along the back past where the lady had been with me in persuit....of the snake, not the lady. Snakes must not be very inteligent because Ithink it just wanted to go past and was not smart enough to go around. Interesting that a snakes scales make kind of a singing sound like file when they go fast in dry grass. Anyway, I am proud that I did not do the screaming little girl dance or panic at the sight of a snake.
