Both where out there. The $2000 was too high for a non-running two cylinder. The $5000 was a pipe dream while on LSD. LMAO
The letter series JD don't have much value unless they are something special. I have seen good restored unstyled JD "A"s and JD "B"s not bring more than $2000-2500 in the last year. The hot market is past for now on them. A big issue is that the guys that grew up using them are all getting beyond the collecting age. This is one reason the hot items right now are the 10 and 20 series going like hot cakes. Plus three point hitches and live/independent PTO.
I have been a "Green" guy for most of my life. My first personal tractor was a 1947 JD"G". The old two cylinders might be fun to play around with but go out and work all day on one and they are not as fun.
