That hand clutch was a lot easier to use than the foot clutch and the brakes were a lot better and steered as easy as the Farmall H and the sound was better than the rumbling of the 4 cylinder. Grew up with a 38 A, 41 Farmall H and a 44 Ford 2N and the 38 A was my favorite to drive, only thing I was not big enough to turn the flywheel. First year had it I cultivated with the Ford, Next year told Dad was taking over the Deere with HAND lift cultivators and the farmall did not have hydrolicks till 1978. Wish I had that A back now yet. Dad traded it in 1960 for a 49B and 2 days later knew it was a mistake to get rid of it but by then the dealer had already sold it for the buyer to put a corn picker on.
