Our family did almost the same thing. In 1978 uncle and cousin each bought new ih 886s. Except for all the things you mentioned they gave pretty good service and were kept. However as time went on cousin bought a 1066 and then a 1466. The 1466 was the best running and handiest tractor I ever ran. It was open air all the others had cabs.
