It is Stihl's policy to service out and start up every new saw before it's delivered to the customer. And as far as I'm concerned, it's a darned good policy. Same way years ago when I was a McCulloch dealer. My agreement with McCulloch at the time required me to fill a new saw with gasoline and bar oil, start it up, and make sure it was running properly before I turned it over to the buyer. What would you do if you bought a saw through the mail and it didn't start when you received it? Who would you go to for help? How enthused would they be about working on a saw that someone bought through the mail?
