I agree if not attaching top link when raising 3pt hitch the pto shaft will contact the mower deck and could bend the shaft. I disagree that on most 3pt hitch cutters the center top brackets aren't strong enough to keep rear of mower from flipping up if an obstruction is contacted.
JD builds a MX 8 without a center link attaching bracket. It can also be optioned with a hyd cyl on the rear wheel frame.
