I dont really agree that the afgan people dont have the backbone to stand up,they stood up to the russians for years, they are standing up to the US very well now.and they have stood up for most of their history very very well. The problem there is in no way a lack of courage. The problem is a fuedal way of everyday life.and a belief system thats been ingrained for centuries.you forget, the afgan people did not declare war on the US,a very small group with hatered towards us did.WE are the interlopers in their country,We demanded that the taliban assist us,WE are fighting the taliban simply because they did not bow to our wishes, and turn over al-quida.Until then we could have cared less what they did,and in fact supported them! Thats the real problem here ,how do you change these people who have fought invaders for most of their history?how do you tell a young person 10-12 years old or younger that you killed his father because he didnt agree with us, and then walk away leaving him to listen to the people he respects most tell him ,every day ,day and night otherwise?no ,theres no clear answers there,in that place.we ,and are our soldiers are unfortunatly just someone passing through.to win a war you have to win both physically AND mentally.very hard to do there.you simply dont walk into the hindu kush and change folks mind set.

After a few paragraphs I usually close the book and go back to banging out dents. A good friend and I were recently discussing our tractor electrical systems when he stated "I figure it all comes back to applying Ohms Law". At this point
