It could be possible to have a sealing ring leak on one side of the dual power, either high or low. If there was a leak on the underdrive clutch pack, it would bleed pressure from the PTO, and other low pressure systems. If the direct drive is ok, then normal pressure would be restored in the system. Likewise, the reverse could be true. The filter could also have a lot of crap in it if it has never been changed. I also find that a simple way to get a rough idea of the condition of the main pump is to set a remote valve in it's detent position with the tractor running at low idle. This is best when it is cold. Assuming that the detents have not been changed, the detents should kick the valve into neutral. If it can not do this the system is not making enough pressure. Generally they will kick out at a higher rpm. However, if the detents were changed, then that is meaningless. With what you say with everything else working fine though, it does sound like the problem is in the PTO clutch. Hard to say without looking and checking. For $6000, and everything else is strong, just as well to put a bin more in to the tractor. That should be a good old tractor. That's what I would do anyway, but that's me, and I like the older ones anyway. Good luck. Rod

"Barry Seiler, owner of Country Town Farm Supply store used to invite people up to the Johne Deere store. He would give hats and a free meal for everyone that brings a tractor." Elliott said while this
