Thanks for your reply. I'll keep trying the pipewrench and hammer. Can that pounding damage the gears? The oil seal on the hydraulic power unit (countershaft) is also leaking. Will this dog unscrew clockwise?

Also, I've been trying to take these off without breaking the tractor in half. I assume this is the correct approach. Let me know if not.
