Neal that countershaft dog can be a real dog. It unscrews counterclockwise. I usually have to resort to a pipe wrench with a hammer. When it finally gives, you will know it. If it gets marked up, just grind off the teeth marks on a grinding stone. Now the dog on the main shaft slides onto that shaft. They also can be real fickle to remove. You might have to rig up a puller to get it off. I had one "Old Red" H that took 2 hours to remove.
