I was disassembling my Farmall 400 engine today when I came across this cracked piston in cylinder number 4. It"s amazing to me how the tractor ran fine and was even used on the auger previously to this discovery. The only reason I found it was because I am restoring it, and the current block leaked antifreeze into the oil! As seen in the picture, a piece of the ring was broken, and somehow the top edge of the piston was dented. I"m not a expert mechanic, but to me it"s amazing how I didn"t have a catastrophic engine failure. Now my next step is to locate a replacement piston that matches the others. Does anyone have just 1 used 400 piston?
