When you drain it: Clear water on the bottom of the transmission is from condensation and should not worry you. It is clear because it is not deep enough to be stirred by the gears. You may get a quart of crystal clear water when the plug is first pulled. A dishonest person can get the price of a tractor down by checking the fluid at the drain in the seller's presence, if water comes out! Oil should be black. If it is amber (translucent) it is new and you did not need to change it. If the oil is brown and foamy it has had lots of water and you are glad to be changing it. Bearings are still probably OK because is a Farmall.
