My model 784 is leaking pretty bad; fluid is seeping around the steering shaft area underneath the steering wheel. My question is to those that have repaired the valve assembly or fixed a leak around the shaft before, how big a job is it to pull the valve and/or replace a seal around the steering shaft (or wherever the leak is occurring;can't tell for sure as I haven't yet taken off the wheel or removed the instrument panel)? I have the manuals but for a novice like myself, kinda hard to estimate the issues I may run into or the time to diagnose and repair the leak. Must be done, however, either by myself or (if I succeed in removing the valve assembly) take it to the local IH dealer in Lennon Mich.
