Well I'm out of things to check, my 454 gas won't stop smoking. Definately unburnt fuel. Air cleaner ok, adjusted idle on carb to specs, regapped points. Pulled and regapped the plugs. #1 was sooted, rest looked ok. Cleaned the plug still smokes. Pulled valve covers and checked valves are at .027 as manual says..... Someone told me once to tighten the rockers down to where at valves full closed the pushrod is snug...which is right?
Manual says to retime engine after doing points, only problems with that are 1. can't find timing marks on the balance. 2 can't find timing specs in the manual... Any advice? Thanks!
