Thats good advice, IF you plan to leave the hoe on the tractor most of the time. My Woods has a subframe of sorts that ties the lift arms and the toplink together. The weight of the hoe is not supported by the hydraulics but by the frame. It's worked real well for me. The hoe that JD sells with their tractors (or at least did when I was shopping in 1988) has a subframe. Having mounted and dismounted one on a 970 a couple of times, I found it to be a pain to mount, and the subframe (which stays with the tractor) seriously reduces ground clearance for other operations. I'm also not a big fan of using tractor hydraulics to run the hoe, both because it's slower and because I'm not at all sure cycling the trans/hydraulic fluid temperatures like a working a hoe hard does is a good idea. Just my opinion, of course.
