I always try and tell people not to mount a 3-point hoe on the 3-point, instead build a subframe underneath the tractor to fasten the hoe to. However, I am surprise you did not like the digging perfomance of a Long. If you used your tractors hydraulic system to run the hoe, it does not put out but 1450 psi. This would make the hoe seem weak.
